Astronics-PECO, located in Clackamas, Oregon, designs and manufactures highly engineered commercial aerospace interior components and systems for the aerospace industry. We specialize in Passenger Service Units (PSUs) which incorporate air handling, emergency oxygen, electrical power management and cabin lighting systems. We also manufacture a wide range of fuel tank access doors that meet stringent strength, fuel sealing and anti-corrosion requirements.

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Director to oversee plantwide operations.

This position is a key senior management position responsible for the profitability, growth, and efficiency of the company's operations. This experienced individual will lead the organization's purchasing, planning, material handling, production, and manufacturing engineering personnel and others, to ensure the profitable execution of production and product delivery that meets or exceeds our customer requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, develop and implement strategy for operational management and development in order to meet organizational performance plans within agreed budgets and timelines
  • Lead, motivate, and develop personnel, including implementation of the company's values and behaviors to ensure a culture consistent with the company's plan
  • Develop and implement annual operating and long-range plans concerning all pertinent aspects relating to operations, direct/indirect budgets and capital equipment
  • Plan and coordinate the transfer of new products, technologies, equipment and processes in conjunction with marketing and sales needs, and supports group strategic plans. Coordinate and participate in general administrative and technical programs and functions such as: staffing planning, production schedule, shipping commitments, management development programs
  • Maintain safety and regulatory compliance relating to the production facility

This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation and this position may be responsible for the performance of various functions that may be an integral part of the Company's overall SOX / 404 internal control structure.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages and directs manufacturing supply chain personnel. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the operations teams. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include safety, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 
Position Requirements

Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Business Administration and experience in lean manufacturing with 10-12 years of related experience preferred
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, employees and the general public
  • Ability to analyze P & L’s, costing reports and understand MRP calculations and applications
  • Leadership and Sr. Management experiences are a prerequisite
  • A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others, preferably with Aerospace operations groups of over $100M/year
  • Planning: an ability to think ahead and plan over a 2- year time span
  • Management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both strategic and functional level
  • Technical skills in engineering management, quality assurance and costing
  • Strong customer focus and orientation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess strong computer skills in Microsoft Office
