POSITION TITLE: Metrology Technician (Dimensional/Gage Block)
LOCATION: AFPSL, Heath, OH
POSITION CLASSIFICATION: FLS Non-Exempt
SUPERVISOR: Physical/Mechanical Department Manager
HOURS: Per CBA (some overtime may be required)
SALARY: $36.06/hour and fringe benefits (as per CBA)
This Technician is responsible for providing calibration and repair services on Dimensional/Gage Block equipment in the Physical/Mechanical Laboratory. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturer’s manuals or similar documents. Requires the ability to use complex test instruments and control equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Essential/Typical Duties:
- Maintains, repairs, and calibrates Dimensional/Gage Block Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
- Performs general maintenance and overhaul procedures; uses TMDE to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
Non-Essential Duties:
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Often – Climbing, Stooping, Kneeling, Reaching, Standing, Sitting, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Talking, Hearing
Lifting/Moving Requirements:
- The individual ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- The ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements when calibrating certain TMDE.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Normally works in an environmentally controlled work area.

REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Associates Degree, or related equivalent experience desired.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in metrology and repair of TMDE desired.
- Working knowledge of calibration and maintenance of DC/Low Frequency primary measurements standards is a plus.
- Ability to read and understand schematic and wiring drawings.
- Familiar with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 and USAF T.O. 00-20-14 is a plus.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to qualify for or have successfully completed a National Agency Check Investigation within the last ten (10) years.
- Above average proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), Windows based operating systems, and general internet navigation and usage required.
