Job summary:
Plan, organize, develop, and direct all in-service educational programs throughout the facility in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the Director of Nursing, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.
Essential duties and responsibilities: Include the following; other duties may be assigned.
Plan, develop, direct, evaluate, and coordinates education and on-the-job training programs.
Incorporate commercially produced instruction materials and training aids into existing in-service programs as deemed necessary.
Provide leadership in formulating the goals and objectives of the in-service educational programs
of this facility.
Assume the authority, responsibility and accountability of directing the in-service educational programs.
Develop, evaluate and control the quality of in-service educational programs in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Secure, develop and maintain records, reports, instructional manuals, reference materials, etc., pertinent to in-service educational programs.
Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, class attendance and subject records, etc.
Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director of Nursing concerning in-service training programs.
Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department.
Promote the morale of all personnel and maintain a spirit of cooperation.
Assist in setting standards for department personnel.
Conduct self in a manner which reflects credit on Carmel Valley Manor and encourages others to do the same.
Make monthly work schedule to adequately staff Health Center and adjusts schedules as needed due to illness, injury or regular time off.
Take call for Director of Nursing as needed.
Maintain appropriate guidelines for determining infections per guidelines in effect in Infection Control manuals file. Infection Control nurse will record data monthly of infections. Create, document and present quarterly Infection Control reports at the Board meetings, or designate IC nurse to complete such responsibilities.
EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLY FUNCTIONS:
Direct the preparation, scheduling and selection of instructional material, equipment and training aids, to ensure a modern, meaningful in-service program in provided.
Use equipment and materials in a safe and acceptable manner, follows established safety procedures, uses appropriate safeguards, and observe common sense rules of safety in all on-the-job activities including the Injury and Illness Prevention Program.
Assure that required serviceable equipment and knowledgeable operators are available to present special in-service material as directed.
Recommend to the Director of Nursing the equipment and supply needs of the department.
Resident's Rights Responsibilities:
Ensure that patient's rights to fair and equitable treatment, self determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage a complaint, are well established and maintained at all times.
Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information to assure patient rights are protected.
Review complaints and grievances and make necessary oral/written reports to the Director of Nursing.
Assist social services in explaining resident rights to residents, family members, and staff personnel.
Knock three times before entering a resident's room.
