This positions plans, coordinates, and schedules audio/visual needs with various zoo departments and outside vendors, organizations, and companies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Work closely with and provide high-quality customer service to guests and internal departments such as Events, Learning & Innovation, Development, etc.
- Schedule, deliver, operate, pick up, and maintain audio/visual equipment for zoo staff, volunteers, and other public or private groups. Responsible for set up and break down of equipment, as needed.
- Assist with zoo lectures, events, and meetings by video recording, operating presentation projectors/computers, controlling stage lighting, and monitoring sound systems.
- Manage all audio/visual aspects of kiosks, exhibit displays, and video displays, including those at Zoomazium, the Auditorium, ZooStores, Guest Services, and Admissions.
- Manage and support mobile technologies including tablets, smart phones, and associated WiFi and cellular hotspots for multimedia and staff use purposes.
- Setup & support SmartBoards and equivalent interactive Education Displays for conference and classroom use.
- Manage video conferencing software for internal, external, and hybrid onsite/remote meetings for internal and external customers.
- Troubleshoot, fix, and repair desktop and laptop computers, show controllers, and projection/display equipment for all Audio/Visual needs, including video wall and digital signage technologies.
- Provide Help Desk coverage and Level II system support.
- Maintain a current inventory of all zoo audio/visual equipment. Perform an annual inventory check to ensure equipment accountability.
- Develop and implement a repair and inspection schedule for all audio/visual equipment. Make simple repairs and perform preventative maintenance. Check stage lighting for bad bulbs, adjustment, and focus.
- Research, recommend, and coordinate new audio/visual equipment purchases.
- Update and manage event data in the Ungerboeck Event Management (EBMS) software or an equivalent software system.
- Participate in staff meetings and maintain good relationships and clear communications with other zoo departments to help support their goals.
- Perform general office duties such as composing correspondence; maintaining event software, files, and database entries; and dispatching meeting minutes and reminders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, and training in vocational school, related on-the-job experience, or an associate degree in related field. Three (3) or more years of experience working with Audio/Visual equipment, including various types of projectors and sound systems; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and general working knowledge of Keynote, digital video and music formats, basic PC/Mac troubleshooting, and familiarity with Ethernet networks including Wi-Fi.
- Ability to meet deadlines and keep events on schedule by addressing and troubleshooting any audio/visual issues that may potential problems during planning stages of the event.

- This position may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment can range from moderate to high.
