Description

SUMMARY

Oversee all electrical maintenance, upgrades, and new installations. Ensure that automated production equipment is maintained and operated at optimum capacity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Follows all IATF16949 Procedures and Work Instructions in the performance of these duties.
  • Design and specify electrical components for custom automated industrial machines. This includes the creation and revision to wiring diagrams and panel layouts.
  • Create programs for PLC’s, HMI’s, Robots, Vision Systems, Motor Drives, Encoders, etc.
  • Maintains working knowledge of various machine communication technologies. Examples: Ethernet, Profibus, etc.
  • Collaborate on mechanical systems for new, or modify existing, automated machinery to automate manufacturing processes.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems
  • Provide technical support to maintenance and production personnel
  • Support engineering project installations, upgrades and modifications.
  • Acquire and maintain software and hardware accessories for industrial control applications
  • Upgrade obsolete control systems to increase productivity and to avoid excessive downtime for availability of replacement components.
  • Maintain electrical spare parts list for equipment
  • Develop standard for electrical equipment
  • Identify and implement electrical P/M’s to reduce down time
  • Support training for maintenance technicians
  • Plan project timelines with maintenance planner, production, engineering and vendors to ensure minimum downtime for repairs and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and processing issues.
  • Creates processing/equipment instruction documents.
  • Works with manufacturing to implement effective training on necessary improvements and equipment installation.
  • Develops new capital equipment specification, estimates, and oversee installation/startup activities.
  • Champions project update meetings with required plant personnel.
  • Coordinates with outside vendors and contractors as required.
  • Participates in layered audits as required

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BS) or equivalent from 4-year college or technical school in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology; or minimum of 5 yrs related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS

Ability to properly use Basic 5 Why, 5x3 Why, and Fishbone Analysis.

Computer knowledge and experience is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, powdered metal dust, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud on the production floor and moderate in Engineering
