Position Details Nurse Aide/CNA Part-time  
Shift Hours 2:45pm - 11:15pm  
Number of Bi-weekly Hours 16 hours (2 days per biweekly pay period)  
Days of the week Saturday and Sunday

The Nurse Aide will support the Frederick Living Mission of caring for and enriching the lives of older adults with the following essential responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring and getting to and from activities and meals according to the resident’s individual needs.
  • Assisting residents with eating and drinking such as meal and beverage selection, cueing for meal completion and/or hands on feeding. Assist residents in between meals with offering snacks and hydration throughout the day.
  • Provides redirection and de-escalation techniques related to resident behaviors associated with cognitive impairments.
  • Records and reports eating habits to the coordinator/charge nurse.
  • Encourage resident participation in leisure activities provided for residents as described in activity calendar, social events, walking program or as needed to practice de-escalation techniques per resident’s support plan.
  • Assist in admissions, transfers, discharges, and death procedures.
  • Maintain residents’ records daily, (ie) weights and vital signs, in a timely manner, and in accordance with FL policy and procedures.
  • Assist residents with medication as defined by the medication procedure and physicians’ orders.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for the residents.
  • Change bed linens and wash resident’s laundry as needed.
  • Respond promptly and positively to resident requests for assistance, including telephone calls, and requests from family and friends, visitors, or other personnel.
  • Follow proper procedures in emergency situations, and obtains additional assistance if necessary. Answers resident’s emergencies promptly.
  • Monitor resident location. Notifies the Nurse Supervisor/PC Manager immediately if unable to locate a resident.
  • Assist in all tours of duty as assigned.
  • Abide by the organization’s code of conduct in the performance of their duties.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to grasp, kneel, pull, push, reach and stand adequately to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to feel, see, smell and speak adequately to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to lift weight in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in inside environmental conditions.
  • Ability to walk long distances.

Along with an excellent work ethic, successful candidates will have:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred experience in caring for the elderly with cognitive impairments.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required.
  • Must have a minimum of 6 hours of dementia education annually.
