Aprima Software Engineer II

About the Organization
eMDs offers exciting opportunities that will challenge your abilities, expand your skills and reward your contributions in an atmosphere that encourages both personal and professional growth for all.

Additionally, eMDs offers competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and a positive work environment designed around the philosophy of mutual respect and the challenge of contributing to the continued success of our organization.

Our History

eMDs was founded in 1996 by David Winn, MD, a board-certified family practice physician with a very strong business background who understood the value of having an integrated practice management system which helped physicians focus on patients while optimizing practice financials. Dr. Winn was dissatisfied with offerings on the market, and set out to create his own. The eMDs clinic was first implemented in 1998. Using our own practice management system meant we fully understood what it takes to create the perfect EHR system and why the company built our reputation upon being a highly usable system.

Many years later, we've retained the same values from our early days. We are dedicated to building the best integrated EHR and RCM systems and services. We focus on listening to our customers. And most importantly, we focus on making the practice of medicine enjoyable and fulfilling.

Our Leadership

Since our founding, we have been privileged to have been led by certified healthcare professionals and proven IT leaders.

Description

Summary of Job:

The Software Engineer 2 on the team is responsible for building the next physician office experience. We want someone to help build an amazing application used by healthcare providers and patients across the country. If you want to make a difference for physicians, nurses and patients with the code you write, and not just work on the next chat app, this opportunity is for you.

As part of the team, your focus will be on scalable, performant applications in a SaaS/Cloud-based environment. Your main duties will include creating modules and components and coupling them together into a functional app. You and the team will participate in all phases of design and development; from high level design, to defining the REST APIs; to writing the code and tests.

The application is built with most of the UI implemented using Angular. There is a messaging layer between the Angular and C# code. The backend is a REST API implemented using ASP.NET Web API. As a member of the team, you will work with all these technologies.

Agile practices are followed, including automated testing; they even run automated UI tests in Xamarin’s test cloud against scores of device configurations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Spend most of your time writing efficient, effective code
  • Help design the architecture and major features to deliver a complete mobile based application using Angular and HTML/CSS for UI and C# and SQL for REST API and SQL Server for backend code
  • Work in an agile environment following agile practices
  • Participate in team code reviews
  • Ensure high performance regardless of where the code is run (mobile and/or browser)
  • Writing testable, idiomatic, and documented JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Communicating with external web services, both local and remote
  • Service-based application architectures
  • Asynchronous programming techniques
  • Functional programming concepts (e.g. JavaScript best practices, LINQ expressions)
  • Proficiency with JavaScript and HTML5
  • Proficiency with SQL
  • Ability to effectively communicate and mentor other team members
  • GIT as a source repository, and being familiar with complex branch and build schemes
  • Thorough understanding of the responsibilities of the platform, database, API, caching layer, proxies, and other web services used in the system
  • Writing non-blocking code, and resorting to advanced techniques such as multi-threading, when needed
  • Experience with architecting the infrastructure in distributed SaaS/Cloud based environment
  • Automating the build process for packages using scripts, or other means in Continuous Integration Environments.
  • Professional, precise communication skills in all interactions
  • Ship code on a regular basis

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years developing software within one or more of these tool sets: Angular or equivalent, C#, HTML5, Android, iOS
  • 2-4 years building quality user interfaces or REST endpoints using Microsoft .NET or .NET Core
  • 2-4 years designing relational database tables and writing optimized SQL queries, triggers and stored procedures or working with an ORM library
  • Solid knowledge of Multitasking and threading models
  • Ability to write unit tests
