Title: Communications Intern

Location: Gaithersburg, MD

Duration: 12 weeks

 

About US Corporate Communications:

The Oncology Corporate Affairs team provides global support across the entire end-to-end Oncology research and development (R&D) and commercial organizations. This team, based in Gaithersburg MD and Cambridge UK, focuses on building, strengthening and defending our reputation as a leader in advancing oncology science and driving a world-leading global Oncology portfolio. This team also provides site communications support for AstraZeneca’s Gaithersburg R&D hub.

 

Goal/Objective:

Support the site communications team to build culture and community across our Gaithersburg campus.

Summary of Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Develop communications content for Gaithersburg site channels including plasma screens, posters, digital channels, and e-mail:
  • Writing and editing (internal social media posts, photo captions, corporate bios, project descriptions, intranet articles, Powerpoint presentations, etc.)

  • Event logistics support (e.g., townhall assistance)

  • General administrative support
 
Position Requirements
  • Second or third-year BA or BS candidate majoring in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Digital Media, Graphic Design, or related discipline 
  • Effective user of Microsoft Office application suite, especially Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong presentation skills, and exceptional English skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative spirit, and enthusiastic about a career in corporate affairs within the pharmaceuticals/biotech industry
  • Ability to work professionally, effectively, and collaboratively in a diverse work environment to meet project milestones in a timely fashion
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship, be able to work onsite in Gaithersburg, MD for the summer, at least 18 years of age, and enrolled in a full-time academic program pursuing a minimum of a bachelor’s degree

 

Compensation:   Competitive hourly wage
