Share Email Opening Title School Crossing Guard  Location City of Griffin   Description This position is part-time specializing in the control of vehicular and pedestrian traffic at school crossings to prevent accidents and protect the safety of school children and other pedestrians. Essential functions include: Directs school children and other pedestrians to cross the street at school crossing guards' signal. Controls vehicular traffic as necessary consistent with the safety of all concerned to assure safe crossing for pedestrians. Reports motorists who fail to comply with provisions of the law governing movement of vehicular traffic at school crossings; may appear in court to testify in cases involving violations of such laws.   Position Requirements Knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge of applicable traffic laws. Ability to stand and patrol areas for moderately long periods, often in adverse weather. Ability to handle situations that might occur with children at crossings. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. High School diploma or GED.
