Our client is seeking to hire a Senior Marine Electronics Engineer (Navigation) to join our team in Washington, DC. Upon award, you will:

  • Provide oversight for junior staff, managing a high-visibility, mission-critical program.
  • Lead engineers in development efforts, coordinate with other functional areas to complete ship design.
  • Develop and integrate systems that use commercial navigation standards.
 
Position Requirements

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited institution.
  • Experience integrating C5I systems in one of the following categories: Cybersecurity, Command and Control, Networking, Internal Communications, External Communications, Sensors, Combat Systems, or Intelligence Systems.
  • Knowledge of USN, USCG, ABS, and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
  • Technical supervision
  • > 1 year federal ship or boat building
  • 6 years' experience developing and integrating Integrated Navigation Systems and Integrated Bridge Systems (including integrating navigation sensors, radars, navigation data distribution systems, navigation electronic charting systems, and alert management)
  • 6 years’ documented experience developing and integrating systems using NMEA 0183 or NMEA 2000.
  • Meets the baseline requirements to obtain DoD 8570 Information Assurance, Technical (IAT) Level II Certification. [Actual certification not required]
  • U.S. Citizenship is a prerequisite.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Preferred Experience and Certifications:

  • MS Technical, Engineering or Marine ABET Accredited Institution.
  • Previous experience with shipboard and defense C5I systems 
  • 5 years’ experience integrating C5I systems in three of the following categories: Cybersecurity, Command and Control, Navigation, Networking, Internal Communications, External Communications, Sensors, Combat Systems, or Intelligence Systems.
  • Experience reviewing and adjudicating system design specifications, test requirements, Departures from Specifications, Request for Waiver, or Engineering Changes.
  • Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs
  • Previous experience developing and integrating Navigation Systems that meet the ABS standards, or the analogous guide from any of the worldwide Marine Vessel rules organizations, such as Lloyd's or DNV and/or experience in using navigation systems, as a licensed commercial ship navigator or as part of military duties.
  • PE license, PMP, DHS PM Level I, II or III, or HS systems engineering

This position is contingent upon and subject to the award of the contract from the government. You will be hired on a contingency basis.
