SUMMARY

Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (CNC) machines, and perform complex form grinding by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow all ISO 9001/IATF 16949 Procedures and Work Instructions relevant to your work area.

Programs all CNC equipment by downloading profiles from engineering and create motion for CNC Mills, wires, and RAM EDMs.

Set up and wire EDM punches, dies, fixtures, etc. by loading tool into wire EDM and indicate square and flat. Find center of tool and load program into wire EDM. Create a command to run program.

Set up RAM EDM to redress tooling. Put tooling into RAM EDM and indicate flat and round dress trode in CNC Milling Machine. Edit program in EDM with appropriate info.

Have the ability to operate cylindrical grinder by setting up punches by indicating square and round to grind ID’s and OD’s.

Fits and assembles parts together and into assemblies.

Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.

Heat treats tools or parts.

Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools.

Complete all repairs from the production floor.

Assist in training of other Machine Shop employees as directed.

Perform all duties of a Machinist.

Must have the ability to operate and train other employees on all machines and other technical related skills in the Machine Shop.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; minimum of five to ten years of experience and ability to perform at the Class A level.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
