AstraZeneca is pioneering innovative research and exploring novel pathways across key therapeutic areas, including respiratory, inflammation and autoimmunity; cardiovascular and metabolic disease; oncology; neuroscience; and infection and vaccines. We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related discipline. Core Responsibilities: Prepare drug formulations Perform various drying activities such as freeze-drying (lyophilization) and spray drying Use different analytical tools to understand the properties of solution formulations and the dried solids Prior knowledge about protein formulations and drying technologies are desired  Data collection, recording, interpretation and presentation Deliver a final report at the end of the internship   Position Requirements Position Requirements: A minimum of 2 year of undergraduate work toward a B.S.; graduate level candidate (Masters, PhDs) will also be considered Major: pharmaceutical sciences, chemical engineering, chemistry, or related discipline Previous experience working in labs are preferred Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are preferred Effective user of Microsoft Office application suite Process updates and coordination between functional area Strong documentation, writing, and presentation skills are preferred Excitement and initiative to gain industry experience and learn new skills Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work environment to meet project milestones in a timely fashion Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) to summarize development work, critical conclusions, and relevance to the bigger picture Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship, be able to work onsite in Gaithersburg, MD for the summer, at least 18 years of age, and enrolled in a full-time academic program pursuing a minimum of a bachelor’s degree   Full-Time/Part-Time Seasonal   Location Gaithersburg, MD   This position is currently not accepting applications.
