We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a bachelor's degree in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline for a paid summer internship. 


The objective of this position is to understand and characterize each combination of vial crimping mechanisms and components to see whether their parameters conform to Container Closure Integrity (CCI) passing criteria. Evaluate Residual seal force (RSF) which characterizes internal stresses and enables forensic investigation of the manufacturing process in vials.

Core Responsibilities:

Use statistical software to design experiments and characterize various crimping mechanisms against RSF and other CCI techniques.

Position Requirements


  • A minimum of 1 year of undergraduate work toward a B.S. in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Effective user of Microsoft Office application suite
  • Statistical software skills, such as JMP, SAS, or Minitab
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment and learn to use equipment with an emphasis on lab safety
  • Design of experiment, data collection and analysis, primary container assembly, and troubleshooting
  • Strong documentation, writing, and presentation skills required
  • Excitement and initiative to gain industry experience and learn new skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work environment to meet project milestones in a timely fashion
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) to summarize development work, critical conclusions, and relevance to the bigger picture
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship, be able to work onsite in Gaithersburg, MD for the summer, at least 18 years of age, and enrolled in a full-time academic program pursuing a minimum of a bachelor’s degree
