AstraZeneca is pioneering innovative research and exploring novel pathways across key therapeutic areas, including respiratory, inflammation and autoimmunity; cardiovascular and metabolic disease; oncology; neuroscience; and infection and vaccines. Goal/Objective:  To optimize AAV expression conditions/modifying transfection protocol. Core Responsibilities: Maintain cell culture, generate plasmids, analyze AAV quality   Position Requirements Position Requirements: Aseptic technique, use of micropipette, (cell culture and PCR are preferred) Minimum of 1 year of undergraduate work toward a B.S. in biology, cell biology, or related field Ability to work in a laboratory environment and learn to use equipment with an emphasis on lab safety Excitement and initiative to gain industry experience and learn new skills Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work environment to meet project milestones in a timely fashion Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) to summarize development work, critical conclusions, and relevance to the bigger picture Effective user of Microsoft Office application suite Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship, be able to work onsite in Gaithersburg, MD for the summer, at least 18 years of age, and enrolled in a full-time academic program pursuing a minimum of a bachelor’s degree   Full-Time/Part-Time Seasonal   Location Gaithersburg, MD   This position is currently not accepting applications.
