AstraZeneca is pioneering innovative research and exploring novel pathways across key therapeutic areas, including respiratory, inflammation and autoimmunity; cardiovascular and metabolic disease; oncology; neuroscience; and infection and vaccines. Goal/Objective:  Learn how to operate the Nucleocounter NC-200 and ViCell Blue, then compare cell counting and viability measurements for multiple donors, matrices, and variability of these two measurements over time. Core Responsibilities: Thaw and prepare cell samples, reagents, and solutions in the lab Prepare a presentation and present at the end of the internship   Position Requirements Position Requirements: Pipetting skills, practical knowledge of cell biology, and general chemistry skills Practical knowledge of immunology and cell culture preferred A minimum of 3 years of undergraduate work toward a B.S. in biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related field Ability to work in a laboratory environment and learn to use equipment with an emphasis on lab safety Excitement and initiative to gain industry experience and learn new skills Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work environment to meet project milestones in a timely fashion Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) to summarize development work, critical conclusions, and relevance to the bigger picture Effective user of Microsoft Office application suite Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship, be able to work onsite in Gaithersburg, MD for the summer, at least 18 years of age, and enrolled in a full-time academic program pursuing a minimum of a bachelor’s degree   Full-Time/Part-Time Seasonal   Location Gaithersburg, MD   This position is currently not accepting applications.
