Vice President, Membership Services 

Description

OFN is looking for a dedicated team member to support OFN members through peer training, investments in the human capacity of staff, and strengthening the power of CDFIs. Specifically, this role provides value through development services − subject matter expertise, technical assistance, resource development, training and events, and strategic initiatives. The role directly impacts OFN’s work in supporting CDFIs in their capacity as members and borrowers to meet their operational objectives, fulfill investor expectations, increase lending and development services, maximize impact, and reduce risk. Further, this role works across teams to support capitalization, financial services, and advocacy. OFN is a leading national network of CDFIs headquartered in Washington, D.C. OFN builds the strength of its membership and other CDFIs through financial products and services, events, training, research, policy advocacy, and visibility. Currently OFN has an on-balance sheet loan portfolio of $150 million and manages capital on-and off-balance sheet of nearly $1 billion and has plans to bring additional $1 billion in new private capital to the industry.

This position is based in Washington, D.C. All staff currently work a hybrid schedule.

Core Responsibilities:

 

  • Respond to the needs of OFN members for development services − information, expertise, models, training, technical assistance (TA), investments in human capacity of staff, and other resources.
  • Ensure OFN members receive a coordinated, valuable suite of services and benefits from OFN
  • Develop subject matter expertise and contribute to resource identification and creation.
  • Lead parts of the development of resources, products, and services such as tools, templates, training curriculum, and CDFI related content for OFN conferences and training and resources.
  • Design and deliver effective events, training, and other education and information platforms to share resources with OFN members.
  • Design, develop, and manage strategic initiatives supporting OFN membership and CDFI industry in collaboration with the OFN leadership.
  • Lead parts of the OFN conference session planning and execution.
  • Manage and review the production of content from consultants and contractors.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or 7-10 years of direct professional work experience in lieu of degree.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in project management, organizational development, or community development.
  • Professional experience in community development finance, including direct lending experience, is preferred; experience in lending to financial and/or non-profit institutions is a plus.
  • Experience working at a CDFI or with CDFIs is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with presentation and educational platforms such as CVENT, Zoom, Canvas, GoToMeeting.
  • Experience in community development finance sectors such as small business, affordable housing, and clean energy/green/resilience highly desired.
  • Experience in presentation and adult education skills such as public speaking, panel moderation, meeting facilitation, event design, curriculum development, training delivery, and technical assistance provision highly desired.
  • Experience in the development and management of projects, programs, products, and resources required.
  • Experience working with one or more priority markets (rural, Native, minority, persistently poor) is a plus.
  • Understanding of the CDFI business model and community development finance.
  • Superior organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently under minimal supervision as well as ability to set priorities and meet deadlines under pressure without sacrificing quality.
  • Digital literacy and ability to navigate workplace technology and experience with loan management systems and CRMs preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teams across OFN.
  • Comfort working in a small-office environment and/or experience working in a nonprofit environment preferred.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills required with emphasis on clarity, conciseness, and relevance and the ability to appropriately adjust for different audiences.
  • Moderate travel required (15% of time)
  • Job involves normal physical requirements for an office position.
