OFN is looking for a passionate leader to work across OFN’s teams to strengthen the power of CDFIs by supporting the growth and evolution of OFN’s CDFI members so each member can meet its mission, fully realize its potential, and maximize its ability to make positive and lasting contributions to its constituencies and community. This position drives growth in CDFIs through peer training, investments in the human capacity of staff, and strengthening the recruiting and development of careers in the field of Community Development Finance. This role supports CDFIs in their capacity as members and borrowers to meet their operational objectives, fulfill investor expectations, increase lending and development services, maximize impact, and reduce risk. This is a senior management position and is responsible for effective management of the team. OFN builds the strength of its membership and other CDFIs through financial products and services, events, training, research, policy advocacy, and visibility. Currently OFN has an on-balance sheet loan portfolio of $150 million and manages capital on-and off-balance sheet of nearly $1 billion and has plans to bring additional $1 billion in new private capital to the industry.

This position is based in Washington, D.C. All staff currently work a hybrid schedule.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team to build the capacity of the OFN membership, invest in the human capacity of member’s staff, and support new opportunities in the CDFI Industry. 
  • Lead the development of resources, products, and services such as tools, templates, training curriculum, and CDFI related content for OFN conferences and training and resources.
  • Lead OFN conference session planning and execution.
  • Lead the design and implementation of organizational development resources and trainings.
  • Lead content management and development for CDFI industry stakeholders.
  • Engage in outreach and build strategic relationships with public, private, and nonprofit partners in the CDFI industry and beyond to further organizational development services.
  • Ensure that members receive a coordinated, valuable suite of services and benefits from OFN.
  • Work cross functionally within OFN to improve performance and impact of the CDFI Industry and membership.
  • Lead the project management and approve the production of content from consultants and contractors.
  • Lead the design and implementation of special initiatives supporting OFN membership and CDFI industry.
  • Manage small staff (1-2) direct reports.
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or 12 years work experience in lieu of a degree; graduate degree preferred.
  • 10+ years professional experience in community economic development; experience in lending to financial and/or non-profit institutions preferred.
  • Experience working at CDFIs or consulting in the CDFI sector and understanding of the capacity building needs of CDFIs and nonprofit lenders preferred.
  • Experience in community development finance sectors such as small business, affordable housing, and clean energy/green/resilience highly desired.
  • Experience in the development and management of projects, programs, products, and resources required.
  • Experience working with one or more priority markets (rural, Native, minority, persistently poor) preferred.
  • Solid understanding of the CDFI business model and community development finance.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with superior interpersonal skills and ability to work well with diverse constituents.
  • Superior organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently, as well as ability to set priorities and meet deadlines under pressure without sacrificing quality.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Digital literacy and ability to navigate workplace technology including experience with CRMs.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teams across OFN.
  • Comfort working in a small-office environment and/or experience working in a nonprofit environment preferred.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills required with emphasis on clarity, conciseness, and relevance and the ability to appropriately adjust for different audiences.
  • Moderate to heavy travel required (15%-25% of time)
  • Job involves normal physical requirements for an office position.
