Title: Engineering  Automation Intern

Location: Gaithersburg, MD

Duration: 12 weeks

AstraZeneca is pioneering innovative research and exploring novel pathways across key therapeutic areas, including respiratory, inflammation and autoimmunity; cardiovascular and metabolic disease; oncology; neuroscience; and infection and vaccines.

We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Engineering for a paid summer internship. 

Objectives/goals:

Engineering Specification, Design, and Validation of Analytical Equipment

Primary duties:

Main responsibility will be assisting in the specification, design, and validation of Analytical Equipment.

Deliverables of this program will include:

  • Writing of protocols, reports, data integrity assessments, specifications Creation of preventive maintenance plans
  • Execution of validations
  • Computerized system work orders prompting review cycles
  • Database evaluation and review
  • Training
  • Preparation of Audits
 
Position Requirements
  • 1 or 2 years of undergraduate work toward a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or other related discipline

  • Strong data handling or data integrity experience

  • SQL skills

  • MS Office proficiency, especially Excel

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential

  • Good documentation, writing and communication skills are required

  • Knowledge of lab instruments, pharma operations, and biotechnology processes are strongly desired

  • SAP skills is a plus

  • Must be enrolled in a fulltime academic program with the goal obtaining a bachelors degree

  • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
