Title: Engineering and Automation Intern

Location: Gaithersburg, MD

Duration: 10-12 weeks

AstraZeneca is a global, innovation-driven biopharmaceutical business that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialization of small molecule and biologic prescription medicines. AstraZeneca is pioneering innovative research and exploring novel pathways across key therapeutic areas, including respiratory, inflammation and autoimmunity; cardiovascular and metabolic disease; oncology; neuroscience; and infection and vaccines.

We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a Bachelors degree in Engineering for a paid summer internship. 

Objectives/Goals:

Engineering Specification, Design and Validation of Manufacturing Equipment

Core Responsibilities:

Main responsibility will be assisting in the specification, design, and validation of Manufacturing Instruments and Equipment. Deliverables of this program will include:

  • Writing of protocols, reports, data integrity assessments, specifications Creation of preventive maintenance plans
  • Execution of Validations
  • Leading validation meetings on specific equipment
  • Computerized system work orders prompting review cycles Training
  • Preparation of Audits
  • Data mining and data processing
 
Position Requirements
  • A minimum of 1 year of undergraduate work toward a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related disciplines

  • MS Office skills including: Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

  • Self-motivation and eagerness to learn

  • Good documentation, writing, and presentation skills are required

  • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship, be at least 18 years of age, and a fulltime student planning to return to academics in the fall
