Membership Sales Specialist  

Description

Reporting to the Director of Membership, the seasonal part-time Membership Sales Specialist sells Memberships at the gate, and at special events, and supports the Membership team as needed. This is a seasonal position from May 16 until October 14. This individual works weekends. This person sells memberships and ccurately and efficiently processes Membership transactions. They support all facets of membership retention and stay up-to-date on Membership benefits, Membership programming, and all special events at the Museum. This individual works collaboratively both within the Membership Department and with all museum departments, from Advancement and Interpretation, to the Gate and Volunteer Services.

Analysis and Reporting: This position requires detailed daily financial reporting  

Billing officer: Manage financial transactions with Members and external visitors

Database management:  RE, CRM and POS Centaman management preferred

Membership: Work with Membership and gate specialists to actively attract new members, process Membership renewals, and Membership upgrades, at the gates and on the grounds. Actively promotes programmatic new membership sales, renewals, and upgrades. Participates in telemarketing campaigns as needed.

Essential Functions:  

  • Sells Memberships
  • Accurately and efficiently processes Membership renewals and New Member sales
  • Fields detailed questions about all of the Museum’s programs – from Education and classes, to Member lectures and special events of all kinds
  • Maintain open lines of communication with Museum departments and proactively stay informed of different program offerings, including classes that require complicated registration transactions
  • Work in a CRM database daily
  • Participate in a highly collaborative department, sharing ideas, problem solving and taking initiative to advance goals
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned
  • Works all weekends
 
Position Requirements
  • Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination and booster by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination will be required.
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability in handling unsatisfied customers and handling concerns and complaints
  • Natural salesperson
  • Proficient in the operation of a PC in a windows environment; Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of CRM databases
  • Basic accounting skills and accuracy with numbers
  • Prior customer service experience
  • Clear and accurate communicator, in person, and in writing.
  • Independent and self-motivated

Morgan, America's oldest commercial ship still in existence.
