SUMMARY: Under general supervision, plans, organizes, and provides quality swimming and water safety instruction in the Recreation Center for a variety of age groups.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Plan and effectively organize class teaching outlines, methods and goals that support the swim lesson program participants. Develop lesson plans for age appropriate and specific skill levels.
- Organizes and directs activities of assigned students in order to provide a high level of quality instruction for all age groups.
- Insures that all class students are registered, with a registration card prior to beginning class, are thoroughly involved, are on a first-name personalized basis in meaningful instruction for the duration of class and are in receipt of appropriate certificates and awards as the session concludes. Facilitate the certification process with the Aquatics Program Coordinator.
- Establishes positive public relations with parents/guardians of class students to help them recognize and understand swimming developments and achievements.
- Resolves simple public complaints in matters related to swimming instruction and refers other complaints to the Aquatics Coordinator.
- Enforces pool safety standards and facility operational rules for all individuals using the facilities.
- Completes and submits records and documentation of completed lessons to the Aquatics Coordinator and the American Red Cross office.
- Works with Aquatics Programmer on on-going basis to upgrade, improve and refine individual teaching skills related to teaching effective swimming lessons to various age groups and various skill levels.
- Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
