Education/Experience/Certification Requirements

  • 2-year degree or equivalent experience; AHIMA or AAPC certification required
  • Has a thorough grasp and understanding of ICD-10-CM, PCS and CPT coding principles and guidelines and can apply those standards with expertise.
  • Actively holds one or more of the following credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, COC. 
  • Minimum of 5 years-experience with recent coding and/or auditing
  • Experience coding 2 or more Specialties beyond diagnostics OR ER Coding with Facility and ProFee Leveling with infusion/injection charging OR inpatient only.
  • Ability to locate a coding guideline quickly.
  • Ability to train/educate coders.
  • Consistently EXCEEDS Quality and Productivity Standards.
  • Meets or exceeds Quality and Productivity standards.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to follow through on issues to resolution.
  • Must be able to act both independently and as a team member.

RequirementsAll Coding Positions require:

  • Coding Credential Required: AHIMA or AAPC credential (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or COC)
  •  2 - 5 years medical coding experiance
