Description

Pono Aina Management, LLC a subsidiary of Hui Huliau, a Global Federal Government Contracting Firm, is seeking a Construction Estimator for its Tampa, FL office.

OVERVIEW

Collects and analyzes data to estimate the time, money, resources, and labor required for product manufacturing, construction projects, or services. Consults with industry experts to discuss estimates and resolve issues. Identifies and quantifies cost factors, such as production time and raw material, equipment, and labor expenses. Estimates have to take many factors into account, including allowances for wasted material, bad weather, shipping delays, and other factors that can increase costs and lower profitability. Travels to job sites to gather information on materials needed, labor requirements, and other factors. Reads blueprints and technical documents to prepare estimates. Collaborates with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors on estimates. Uses sophisticated computer software to calculate estimates. Recommends ways to make the project more cost effective or profitable. Prepare estimates for clients and construction managers. Develops project plans for the duration of the project.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete estimates within the assigned area.
  • Generate project scopes as per Companies SOP, spec and quality standards.
  • Utilize technology to submit estimates and complete job functions remotely as necesary.
  • Execute on established team goals.
  • Identify deficiencies and implement improvements to optimize performance.
  • Assist with improving and maintaining product specifications, including trends in products and materials to help control costs and speed to the estimation processes.

Position Requirements

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Minimum of 2 years Commercial/Residential Construction Estimating and Project Management experience focused on rehabs and renovations.
  • Prior experience with U. S. Dept of State Overseas Building Operations (OBO) strongly preferred.
  • Work with internal teams such as sales, project management, and bid coordination to discuss additional or existing pre-qualified scopes.
  • Results oriented, problem-solving individual with the ability to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Must be proactive and able to provide timely follow-up.
  • Ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills and strong attention to quality and detail.
  • Must have a strong proficiency in Microsoft office applications.
  • Solid understanding of local, state and ICC building code and safety standards requirements.
  • Superior understanding of pricing for labor, materials, and general details to develop concise estimates.
  • Accountability, work ethic, pride in performance, and commitment to deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player, with strong sense of ethics and fairness to all parties
  • Honesty, integrity, and skill in setting and meeting expectations
  • Self-starter, with a proven record of working independently with minimum supervision.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • 2+ years of experience evaluating and estimating projects - preferably residential construction and/or renovation projects
  • Prior experience with U. S. Dept of State Overseas Building Operations (OBO) strongly preferred

Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
