Important Skills: The following skills are necessary for long-term success in this position, but can be learned through on-the-job training for the motivated candidate: Geometry calculation skills. Ability to calculate and designate camber, blocking, and horizontal and vertical curve data. Solve problems arising from errors made during drafting or in production. Shoot elevations in the production areas. Duties and Responsibilities: Once trained and/or certified, the individual filling this position will be asked to perform the following tasks: Use computer related design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs for in-house production. Work directly with design engineers to produce drawings from sketches, existing drawings, and electronic images. Make final sketch of proposed drawing, check dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project. Draft detailed multi-view drawings of products and structures. Design parts and products based on written and verbal descriptions from design engineers. Work closely with all production departments to ensure the drawings convey the correct information and are error free. Work from customer drawings, internal drawings, government drawings, or specifications. Make job site visits to get field measurements as assigned.   Position Requirements Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of an associate degree from a two or four-year accredited design and drafting program required. Strong organizational, verbal, interpersonal, and time-management skills are required.
