About the team:

The Production Buyer at Sciton is a part of the Manufacturing team. You will achieve success in this role by employing a strong combination of analytical and interpersonal skills.

In this role, you will:

  • Find potential suppliers, negotiate prices and terms, and make agreements or contracts for purchases—procurement.
  • Focus on getting the best price possible for goods that meet the quality standards and parameters of the organization or department.
  • Establish and maintain close relationships with preferred suppliers to ensure prompt delivery of materials as needed.
  • Analyze and prepare documents needed for production.
  • Establish and maintain excellent rapport with internal business partners.
  • Collaborate closely with department managers, meet periodically with managers to assess, and predict materials requirements for future projects or production processes, and evaluate whether materials meet standards.
  • Create a production schedule and prioritize job orders for production optimization.
  • Maintain the production schedule and other reports as required.
  • Follow-up as required with all teams to expedite the flow of materials and documents to meet production schedule and customer expectations.
  • Complete status reports for production progress, work in process, and raw material inventory.
  • Interact with production floor management daily to resolve manufacturing efficiencies or additional information as requested from Manufacturing, Service, Accounting, etc.
  • Ensure daily production requirements are achieved.
  • May have other tasks assigned as needed.
 
Position Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • A degree in business, finance, or management is required.
  • APICS Certification and MRP system experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of the industry, products, and materials is necessary to ensure purchasing the appropriate materials.
  • Understanding of ERP system and Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Data analysis and exceptional decision-making to support raw material supply and finished goods demand.
