Description

In this role, you will:

  • Execute the production schedule, plan capacity, monitor production output, collect data, and present production reports and information.
  • Oversee day-to-day production activities, set daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicate the plan to the production team.
  • Ensure products are correctly manufactured, meeting all company standards.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through enforcement of good practices.
  • Act as a liaison between direct employees and the management team. 
  • Coach, counsel, develop, motivate and challenge direct reports.
  • Plan, schedule and support cross-training and professional growth.
  • Take ownership for addressing safety concerns and implement solutions. 
  • Ensure company and department policies and procedures are followed and upheld.
  • Address disciplinary issues with the support of the management and People teams and maintain appropriate and timely documentation.
  • Participate in the annual employee performance assessment and goal-setting process by providing meaningful feedback on employee performance, improvement areas and growth potential.
  • Initiate/support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Foster a fair and harmonious environment.
  • Set development goals for direct reports and a plan for achievement.
  • Apply critical thinking to complex challenges and propose solutions, i.e. capacity, equipment, material, space, logistics, etc.
  • Participate in staffing activities; candidate selection and interviewing. Participate in the decision-making process for hiring.
  • Partner with internal customers, planners, purchasers and suppliers to achieve timely and appropriate flow of product.
 
Position Requirements

Essential requirements for the role:

  • Previous experience in leading a manufacturing team.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong tactical skills - ability to apply past experiences to a current problem.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple demand streams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong PC skills - MS Office, production databases, ERP systems.
  • Fierce integrity and discretion. 
  • Genuine caring and compassion for people.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills. Ability to resolve issues by focusing on the situation or process (not personalities) and reaching consensus. 
  • Timely and sound decision-making within the scope of the position and with limited input or information.
  • Knowledge of ISO and/or FDA requirements and experience in participating in associated audits.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and California labor laws.
  • Minimum of 5 years’s in a successful manufacturing leadership role.

 

The ideal candidate may also have:

  • Previous experience in medical device manufacturing; on the production line or in a supporting role.
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations as it relates to medical device manufacturing.
  • Background in lasers, optics or engineering.
