Email Opening Title Dentist  Description Job Summary Provides a full range of professional dental services. All duties and responsibilities will be performed in accordance with the Yellowhawk Tribal Health Center (Yellowhawk) Mission and Vision statements. Essential Job Functions Deliver patient care in a responsible, respectful and caring manner using experience and current industry standards; provide dental screening, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and prevention services to all eligible patients in an outpatient clinic; legibly document all patient visits following the patient visit; and execute various tests; analyze reports and findings; prescribe medications and administer treatment plans. Responsible for referrals for dental patients for specialized treatment when the patient’s dental needs are beyond the limits of the dental facility and/or beyond the scope of the dental provider. Creates positive external relationships while coordinating referral services with other dental practitioners and dental facilities. Coordinates services in a positive and collaborative manner with all Yellowhawk departments. Works within approved budget constraints. Performs all types of dental services which include diagnostic, operative, endodontics, dental public health, oral surgery, pedodontics, periodontics and prosthodontics. Patient’s treatment includes “patient management” problems such as unusual sensitivity to drugs, low threshold to emotional and physical stress, communication difficulties, and other physical or emotional problems. Possible participation in a variety of meetings. Serves on additional committees as necessary. Maintains records in compliance with professional, federal and other applicable guidelines; assure compliance with all accrediting agencies and with Yellowhawk policies and procedures. Assists in the development and the implementation of Yellowhawk’s health promotion and prevention programs to support dental education for the YTHC patient population and community. Participates in professional development efforts to keep current on dental health care trends and practices. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Yellowhawk Tribal Health Center Policy Manual, HIPAA and the Privacy Act. Other duties as assigned.   Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications Possess degree of D.M.D. or D.D.S. and be proficient in a broad range of diagnostic and clinical skills in the areas of operative dentistry, fixed and removable prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, and oral surgery. Must maintain a valid license to practice dentistry. Must have and maintain BLS or ACLS Certification. Must also maintain a current DEA Certificate. Requires advanced computer knowledge especially MS Office. Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain insurance requirements to operate General Services Administration vehicles. Must submit to and pass a reference and criminal background check. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Must submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Preferred Qualifications Three (3) years clinical experience in general dentistry is preferred.
