Description

Position Summary:
Make jigs, fixtures, machine tools, cutting tools, gauges, and other tools used in manufacturing or project building. Specifically in the spring industry.Working from engineered drawings. Lay out (mark out) the design on raw material (usually metal), then cut it to size and shape using manually controlled machine tools (such as lathes, milling machines, grinding machines, and jig grinders), power tools (such as die grinders and rotary tools), and hand tools (such as files and honing stones).
Duties:
*Construct highly complex tools, dies, gauges, fixtures, and jigs using a variety of hand, power or machine tools.
*Make repairs to highly complex tools, dies, gauges, fixtures, and jigs using a variety of hand, power or machine tools, including sharpening and alterations.
*Sets up, operate, and make repairs to appropriate machines in order to perform the variety of functions necessary to complete the tooling process.
*Works from blueprints, work orders, and verbal instructions, plans sequence of operations and recommends tool room purchases
*Checks finished tools for dimensional accuracy using micrometers, dial indicators, optical comparators, sine plates, sine bars, toolmaker microscopes and other types of fixed and variable measuring instruments.
*Works from a weekly shop schedule that is managed to meet customer delivery commitments.
*Perform other manufacturing engineering functions as required

 
Position Requirements

Experience, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • HAAS CNC a plus or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills required, CAD drawing a plus
  • Must have strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to multi-task.

Education & Knowledge:

  • A High School diploma, is required, and a 2 year degree is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills.
  • Superior interpersonal communication skills a must.
  • Must work well under pressure.
