Job Summary

This position supervises the safe fuel distribution operation for the Haines site, ensuring customer needs are met in an efficient and timely manner.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Follows all Policies and Procedures as outlined in the site manuals. Follows DOT regulations.
  • Capable of performing any duty required of all Driver/Dock Attendant staff members. Fills in as fuel delivery driver as needed, including on call and after-hours response.
  • Monitors workload of Driver/Dock Attendant staff, making alterations and changing dispatches based on consumer demands and local weather conditions; identifying products and other related services that should occur at any given customer location. 
  • Ensure drivers are aware of road conditions prior to being dispatched.
  • Ensure drivers and equipment meet all DOT requirements.
  • Attending and conducting safety meetings with Driver/Dock Attendant staff and other related department personnel to ensure the safety culture of the company is being implemented and fulfilled. Emphasis on oil spill prevention and response efforts.
  • Ensure drivers are aware of road conditions prior to being dispatched.
  • Provide feedback to the facility manager on how drivers are performing. Audit employee work performance to ensure regulatory and company compliance.
  • Assist with the training of employees to ensure they are meeting all regulatory and company training requirements.
  • Work with the site manager and maintenance department to ensure proper scheduling of routine vehicle and facility maintenance.
  • Assists with the day-to-day fuel facility operations and maintains a Person in Charge (PIC) status for vessel and facility operations.
  • Maintains fuel Quality Control (QC) and ensures completion of all relevant paperwork.
  • Assists with lubricant sales, distribution, and any related administrative tasks.
  • Assist with inventory control and reconciliation for bulk fuels and lubricants, including all related administrative efforts.
  • Completes all export documentation and engages with our Canadian customers.
  • Gains basic MAS200/Sage knowledge.
  • Greets customers, answers phones, takes order and accepts and records payments.
  • Other operations or administrative tasks as requested by the Site Manager.

Qualifications

Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:

  • Valid Class B CDL with X endorsement.
  • TWIC
  • Hazmat
  • 24-Hour HAZWOPER
  • PIC within 6 months
  • Forklift Certificate

Professional Requirements:

This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to be resourceful and self-directed, attention to detail, and leadership qualities including the ability to be a problem solver while working in a team environment. 

Education and Experience:  High School Diploma and five years' experience, preferably in the petroleum industry; or a combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree and previous supervisory experience preferred. Must be age 21 or older due to USDOT regulations for CDL HAZMAT drivers.

Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit and talk or hear for 10+ hours a day.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands or arms.  The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds without assistance and up to 3000 pounds with mechanical assistance.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

Language Skills:  Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business procedures and governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Computer Skills: An individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word and MAS Accounting Software.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of the Job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and occasionally the risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environmental is generally loud.
