Position Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; supplemented by one (1) year of clerical or customer service experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. 

Requires Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Certification; Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Network Operator Training; Security and Awareness Training must be obtained within first 90 days of employment.

Description

Position Summary:

This classification conducts work relating to entry and retrieval of information from the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) and the National Crime Information Center (NClC) systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Responds to GCIC/NCIC hit requests from other agencies; conducts GCIC/NClC wanted person's inquiry on offenders, missing persons, and stolen property; places detainers/holds on offenders for extradition, immigration and other local law enforcement agencies; processes apprehension requests for law enforcement agencies to apprehend offenders within a limited timeframe; enters missing persons.
  • Updates inmate record upon receipt of change request in GBI CCH information; enters warrants; validates GCIC/NCIC warrant entries; modifies and cancels warrants on GCIC/NCIC; Logs and disseminates GCIC/NCIC sensitive information to authorized personnel and/or other law enforcement agencies; monitors GCIC/NCIC Computer Terminal;
  • Clears and removes all invalid warrants, missing persons, and stolen property entries from the GCIC/NCIC; conducts Criminal History background investigations via GCIC/NCIC computer terminals.
  • Conducts customer service functions in person, by telephone, by email, or by mail; responds to routine questions and complaints; researches problems and initiates problem resolution; refers complex complaints/problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Operates or uses various equipment and supplies in order to complete work assignments; operate a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, internet, e-mail, or other systems and software; and operates general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with department operations within designated timeframe and adherence to established procedures.

Performs other related duties as required.
