JOB SUMMARY

Ensure safety, quality, delivery and efficiency objectives are met by applying knowledge of materials and engineering theory, methods to design, integrate, and improve manufacturing systems or related processes.  May work other departments to refine product designs to increase production and decrease costs.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Identifies opportunities or implements changes to improve products, safety or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.
  • Works with Quality and Operations to determines root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommends changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Analyze scrap and develop action plans to achieve scrap reduction objectives.
  • Assist Operations in interpreting product specifications, prints, control plans and work instructions.
  • Incorporates new LEAN methods and processes to improve existing operations.
  • Measure and report agreed upon key performance indicators.
  • Develop standardize work processes using best practices.
  • Designs, installs, or troubleshoots manufacturing equipment.
  • Participates on the safety committee to increase safety on the production floor.
  • Participates with and leads kaizen events to focus on specific problems and work as teams to implement solutions.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities with process and tooling technicians.
  • Ensure that employees are properly trained through the development of training plans.  Audit and make suggestions to improve training.
  • Assist in developing staffing documentation and manage machinery up-time and critical processes.
  • Assist in developing departmental housekeeping standards and/or guides audits of the work area’s cleanliness.
  • Ensure all safety standards are being followed and unsafe acts or conditions are corrected in a timely manner.
  • Lead the development of executing new products and process launches.
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field required. 
  • 5 to 8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with SolidWorks or related CAD programs.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. 
  • Ability to interact effectively and build relationships with internal and external customers. 
  • Able to write effectively and professionally with internal and external customers. 
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. 
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast paced and team based smaller company.
  • Agile learner.
