Share Email Opening Title Academy Digital Preservation Research Intern - Summer 2022 (Gold Rising)  Description Working with Academy and studio leaders in motion picture archiving, the Digital Preservation Research Intern will undertake bibliographic and related research and write a summary report and list of publications relevant to the digital preservation of motion pictures, supporting the content-development work of the Academy Digital Preservation Forum (ADPF): academydigitalpreservationforum.org   This is a paid, limited term internship position in Hollywood, California beginning June 2022 through August 2022.   Responsibilities: Review existing entries on the ADPF “Research & Publications” page, recommend additions and deletions. Research important works to be included in the bibliography, based on technical importance or historical context to the digital preservation of motion pictures, as well as related developments such as digital postproduction, projection, and cinematography. Scan various periodicals for relevant articles, such as American Cinematographer, SMPTE Motion Imaging Journal, Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, et cetera. Consider and make recommendations on the value and effort of compiling a historical timeline of progress in the field as a basis for the bibliography. Work with other Science and Technology Council and Academy members and staff. Compile a list of educational resources to be referenced on ADPF. Perform other related duties as assigned.   Position Requirements Enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s university degree program in film studies, archiving and preservation, or library science, with an interest in working in the entertainment industry. A keen interest in motion picture technology, workflows, and preservation. Ability to work well independently as well as with others to perform as part of a team. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with a methodical, academic approach.
