Founded by Jordan Peele, Monkeypaw Productions cultivates artistic, thought-provoking
projects across film, television and digital platforms. Our company is committed to
groundbreaking storytelling, visionary world-building and the unpacking of contemporary social
issues. Monkeypaw Productions champions highly specific perspectives and artistic
collaborations with unique and traditionally underrepresented voices. Our work challenges the
conventional architecture of genre storytelling from horror to science fiction to social satire, while
balancing avant garde visual language with undeniably contagious fun.

We are looking for an undergraduate or graduate intern who will be responsible for assisting the
Monkeypaw team with various day-to-day tasks across the following departments: Social Media, Culture, and Impact

Responsibilities:

We are looking for an undergraduate or graduate intern who is interested in working on a team that develops strategies, campaigns and partnerships to further Monkeypaw’s commitment to creating groundbreaking and visionary storytelling around contemporary social issues. The intern will work at the intersection of entertainment, social justice, culture and marketing. We are a relatively small company with a large number of active projects. This allows for a broad range of exposure to many aspects of a production company and a wide variety of day-to-day responsibilities. Our Summer 2022 internship will very likely take place in-person, and so candidates who are located (or intend to be located) in the Los Angeles area are preferred.

Duties:

  • Attend meetings and listen in on relevant calls to take notes and stay abreast of the progress and creative changes associated with various projects

  • Conduct research related to creative staffing

  • Engage in research around culture and impact themes highlighted in development projects including but not limited to identifying experts, organizations, and artists that work on related issues

  • Demonstrate an interest in and understanding of artistic, cultural and social dynamics that are reflected in development projects

  • Contribute to the collection of visual materials, creative brainstorming and critical thinking

  • Efficiently manage information in spreadsheets and databases

  • Pull video clips for comps and reference

  • Assist managers with the preparation of presentation materials and decks

  • Ideal candidate is based in the Los Angeles area for the duration of the internship (June through August)
