POSITION PURPOSE

The Business Development Officer (BDO) will represent our brand and be a driver of growth executing on outside sales strategies in existing and new markets in Marion, Polk and Yamhill Counties. This role will execute development strategies to grow memberships, loans, deposits, and products and services per household. The BDO will build and work a book of business, creating new opportunities with new and existing partners. Additionally the BDO will successfully execute the CU at Work program as part of local business and employee engagement initiatives.


RESPONSIBILITIES

• Promoting financial well-being through outreach initiatives, partnerships, networking, and creating a call to action is expected to help people build better lives.
• Responsible for tracking, reporting, and managing multiple forms of contact and data including maintaining the business development plan and budget and reporting progress and updates to management in a timely manner.
• Evaluate impact of business development initiatives and make recommendations for ongoing improvement.
• Introduce the credit union in new markets by making connections, building trust, and creating channels for communication and awareness to a broad audience.
• Cultivate and build positive relationships with community and company partners in assigned region to generate leads for membership growth. Consistently seek out new partnerships and marketing channels to communicate and share our value proposition.
• Represent the credit union brand as a servant leader who builds trust and adds value to our community.
• Create and execute business development strategies, including membership acquisition, partnerships, and finding new marketing channels for growth and deepening member relationships to generate referrals for mortgage, business services, lending, and all other products and services.
• Be a liaison between the Credit Union and the auto dealerships participating in our indirect lending program working with consumer lending management with the goal of increasing loan volume from each individual dealership. This role will also pursue auto dealerships outside the indirect lending program with the goal of forming new relationships to further grow loan volume.
• Develop membership opportunities at the branch level to meet organizational growth goals. This includes working alongside branch management to develop business driven to each unique branch location via cold calling, perusing warm leads, and attending appropriate business events such as chamber meetings.
• Represent the credit union on select committees and Boards for charitable and community organizations that contribute to the well-being of our community.
• Understand products and services and how they can impact those we serve. Seek out education and be fully aware of the member experience.
• Conduct professional, effective, and relatable live and remote presentations about the value of credit union membership and overall financial well-being.
• Collaborate with all teams to achieve overall business development goals.
• Engage in the community and conceptualize new ideas about campaigns, growth strategies, and new products and services to meet the changing needs of those who live and work in the communities we serve.
• Continuously learn and develop new skills that contribute to successful job performance and credit union goals.
• Cultivate a professional and effective working relationship with vendors.
• Communicate changes effectively that helps build commitment and overcomes obstacles.
• Support Marketing initiatives and assist in implementing internal and external activities. Help increase credit union team member participation.
• Display leadership values and act in the best interest of the credit union at all times. Demonstrate integrity and respect for diversity, equity and inclusion.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent work or educational experience required.
• A minimum of five years of progressively responsible sales experience and/or sales management experience.
• Must demonstrate strong presentation, organization, planning, and leadership skills.
• Must demonstrate strong communication skills, verbal, written and listening.
• Must demonstrate ability to design, implement and maintain programs, plans and initiatives in a timely manner.
• Ability to multi task and cope with pressure resulting from meeting schedules, supervising employees, and dealing with impatient, irate members.
• Strong understanding of the business with problem solving skills and the ability to function in a goal-oriented, outcome-based atmosphere.
• Able to manage schedule with minimal supervision and oversight.
• Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in interpreting policies and procedures, making exceptions as required.
• Excellent PC skills, with the ability to learn new software.

• Physical Requirements: Frequent use of hands to manipulate/grasp objects, occasional bending and lifting from floor height, frequent forward reach, frequent lifting of 1 - 10 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
• Frequently required to stand; walk and sit.
• Valid driver’s license and automotive insurance required.
