Description

Provide medication management services for CMCSB's Outpatient Psychiatric and Medication Management Program and Outpatient Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program to include: Assist physician/nurse practitioner with clinics; review/prepare files prior to clinic; follow-up after clinic appointments; monitor clinic schedule; schedule patient appointments; assist with psychiatric clinics in all service locations; administer injectable medication; perform veni-punctures; order, distribute and document medications services; monitor insurances and complete prior authorizations for medications; initial interpretation of lab result; implement physician's orders/instructions; call in prescriptions; secure medications as per program policies and procedures; dispense medications as prescribed; counsel participating individuals and/or family members on appropriate use and anticipated side effects of prescribed medications; notify physician of any reported or noted side effects to prescribed medication; monitor compliance with take home medications; administer drug screens and breathalyzers as directed and document results; conduct random dose counts and drug screens and document results; conduct pre-induction interviews with interested individuals; coordinate inductions as per physician's orders and work with designated physician to complete inductions; coordinate and maintaining dosing schedules as per program guidelines; provide educational information to individuals and their families; maintain required paperwork within designated time frames. Respond to medical emergencies and other potential crisis situations (verbal or physical) by utilizing agency approved methods, i.e., CPR, universal precautions, CPI, and other approved program procedures).

 
Position Requirements

Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Virginia. One year of experience working with individuals with mental health and substance use disorders is preferred. Current valid driver's license and good driving record. Willingness and ability to travel and use personal transportation in work capacity. Ability to successfully complete training in, and demonstrate practical use of, CPR, First Aid, CPI (behavior intervention training), etc. Ability to successfully complete training in monitoring vital signs and proper lab test collection. Ability to lift thirty (30) pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Good written and oral communication skills. Effective problem solving and decision making skills. Ability to intervene in a crisis situation and manage physical behaviors. Good organizational and time management skills. Good interpersonal skills, and ability to differentiate role with co-workers and role with individuals receiving services. Basic knowledge of community resources.

About the Organization CMCSB was formed in 1972 as a Chapter 10 Community Services Board under Virginia law. CMCSB provides mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse treatment services to the residents of Buchanan, Russell, and Tazewell Counties. At the present time, CMCSB operates over twenty locations, to include outpatient offices, mental health recovery programs, group homes and day support programs for intellectually disabled individuals, and a residential alcohol and drug treatment program. In addition, CMCSB has several services that are provided directly in an individual's home or in a supported environment. CMCSB also provides a 24-hour crisis team to assist community agencies and individuals in crisis situations. CMCSB employs approximately 500 employees, which include full-time and part-time employees, as well as individuals receiving services who are employed to work in various day programs.
