Description

Position Description

This role will oversee a team of communications professionals aligned across PESO (paid, earned, shared, and owned) verticals. This team's work is meant to strengthen the brand via compelling storytelling, achieve programmatic awareness among target audiences, and help drive revenue. The VP of Integrated Communications will integrate the CPE's programmatic work, brand, and impact stories into a cohesive narrative that permeates paid, earned, shared, and owned media.

CPE seeks a strategic, creative, innovative, energetic, collaborative, mission-driven Vice President of Integrated Communications to lead this team. Ideally, the candidate will have experience and commitment to racial justice and policing reform, with a proven track record of engaging with diverse stakeholders, including community organizers, funders, and elected officials. This individual will report to the Senior Vice President of Communications and Development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, evolve, and iterate CPE's PESO communications verticals.
  • Ensure directors of each communication vertical are effectively reaching target audiences and providing content to influence their behavior.
  • Practice a data-driven communications approach to strategy and support tactical work. Help establish meaningful KPIs for each vertical.
  • Facilitate teamwork among each vertical for an integrated communications function where cross-pollination of ideas and content is the standard operating procedure.
  • In close consultation with SVP of Communications and Development, help create key elements of CPE's brand strategy.
  • Provide vision and leadership for the communications team.
  • Actively partner with development, programmatic department heads, and communications embeds within mission-aligned verticals to ensure their communications needs are met.
  • Collaborate with development to coordinate fundraising and donor communication strategies and practices.
  • In partnership with the Project Management Office, help lead the development of policy and best practices for CPE's external-facing communications.
  • Assist the SVP of Communications and Development with oversight of the budget for CPE's communications department.
  • Build collaborative relationships across the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree. 10+ years of senior communications and brand leadership, preferably in racial justice or other not-for-profit organizations. Excellent leadership, critical-thinking skills, and use of sound judgment. Excellent communications skills both written and oral. Strong analytical and data skills are required.

Preferred:

Degree in marketing or communications. 2+ years as the top communications and branding lead. Experience with CRM software and digital marketing tools and techniques. Experience managing multi-million dollar budgets. Demonstrated success in creating and administering relevant communications and branding policies, initiatives, and campaigns. Proven track record of deepening brands, and building stand-out communications campaigns. Record of successful collaboration and team-building with a broad range of stakeholders. An understanding of graphic design, production, and printing processes; an understanding of digital media and digital marketing; strong management and leadership skills. Record of successful collaboration and team-building with a broad range of stakeholders. Robust experience managing projects and delivering initiatives on time and within budget. Knowledge of data analysis and reporting. Ability to synthesize and act on market research. Extensive leadership experience designing and executing creative, impactful strategic communications plans across the PESO spectrum in a hybrid matrix organization with varied priorities and a wide range of stakeholders.
