Description

Typical Tasks for the Business Intelligence (BI) Developer Position:

  • Take initiative in an environment involving diverse sets of data, documents, and materials.
  • Provide data management for data structures and optimizing data marts to support analytics and report creation.
  • Model data and perform ETL routines using data stored and in flat files for Oracle, Netezza or YellowBrick.
  • Design, setup and extract tables from flat files and databases.
  • Support stakeholder organizations with the implementation of their data marts and apartments.  Provide a second tier of database and server administration support for organizational level administrators as they increase knowledge of the environment.

Business Intelligence (BI) Developer Skill requirements:

  • A person in this position must be able to demonstrate excellent technical skills, organizational and planning skills, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, problem analysis, solid judgment and decision-making ability, initiative, and adaptability to change.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is important.
  • Experience with the following technologies is a plus:  
    • Preferred: SQL, Oracle, PL-SQL, UNIX, Informatica PowerCenter, SFTP
    • Desired: SAP, YellowBrick, Netezza, API Management Software Tools, TOAD Data Point, Attunity, IBM PureData for Analytics, AWS Development

Baseline Certification:

  • Strongly Preferred:  CompTIA Security+ CE (Easiest of the qualifications)
  • Substitutes for Baseline Certification: CCNA Security; CySA+; GICSP; GSEC; CND; SSCP

Education:

Bachelor’s degree with a technical major, such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer information systems or computer science is required.  Two years of college and 3-5 years of related work experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.

This customer operates from a U.S. military installation in Mechanicsburg, PA.  The candidate must…

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be able to qualify for and obtain a base access pass in a timely manner
  • Be able to obtain a favorable National Security Agency Check (NACI) including fingerprint check
  • Be able to earn a Secret security clearance (Candidates with an existing Secret clearance are highly desired)

Project Overview:

Have a BS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Data Analytics?  Start your IT career with Herdt Consulting.  We are seeking a highly motivated and self-directed Business Intelligence Developer for this entry level position.  Training assistance is available.  

This person will support the United States Navy’s Naval Supply Systems Command Business Systems Center (NAVSUP BSC).  NAVSUP BSC supports many projects requiring expertise in business intelligence (BI), advanced analytics, predictive analytics and data lakes.  These capabilities are paramount in supporting the NAVSUP Command and Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) digital initiatives to obtain and utilize available data across the Navy financial, supply, and other systems through data driven decision making.  The tasks will include: 1) IBM Netezza Performance Server (NPS) and Yellowbrick (YB) data system support using products such as IBM Data Stage, Attunity, Structure Query Language (SQL) and Informatica; 2) Meeting with NAVSUP internal and external customers to define, refine and analyze requirements, for the development and modification of products. 3) Software migration and support to meet Cloud requirements.  This person will be a key performance contributor to the development of the Navy’s data environment, an integrated end-to-end business intelligence application that retrieves data from many legacy data systems, then transforms the data for consumption in a myriad of business intelligence tools.  This position will focus expertise on data management, ETL, data structures, scalability and optimum methods for designing data marts to support analytics and report creation.
