Turning Point Community Programs is seeking a Clinician for our Urgent Care Program in SacramentoThis position is eligible for a $3000 sign-on bonus. GENERAL PURPOSE

Responsible for assisting community members with an urgent mental health need. The program intends to avert psychiatric emergency room visits and involuntary hospitalizations. The goal of MHUCC is to foster recovery for individuals and families through the promotion of hope and wellness.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is an at-will direct service position within a program. The position is responsible for assisting and advocating for our members in crisis with an urgent mental health need.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

  • Provides rapid clinical assessment for individuals and families utilizing mental health urgent care services.
  • Develops a clinical formulation and provisional diagnosis for individuals needing services.
  • Provides comprehensive risk assessments and initiates 5150 evaluations when deemed appropriate.
  • Enters timely clinical documentation that meets standards determined by the County of Sacramento and reflects person-centered care.
  • Provides appropriate referrals and linkages for effective care coordination.
  • Collaborates with on-site clinician provided by the County of Sacramento, in order to access community resources.
  • Conducts effective care coordination with existing providers to ensure continuity of care post-discharge.
  • Develops and implements a protocol for following up with individuals and families as necessary.
  • Provides “on-the-spot” support that is both helpful to the clients and consistent with the philosophy of the program.
  • Collaborates with the clinic’s interdisciplinary team members regarding client care coordination

 

Knowledge Of:

  • Principles and goals of community mental health.
  • Principles and goals of the “self-help model.”
  • Principles and goals of the “consumer-driven model.”
  • Principles and goals of the “harm reduction model.”
  • Principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, and various treatment modalities.
  • Psychosocial rehabilitation’s treatment and programming.

 

Ability To:

  • Work and communicate with staff, clients, families, community agencies and Professionals.
  • Perform crisis intervention strategies.
  • Work effectively under stress and conflict.
  • Exercise appropriate judgment and decision-making.
  • Be flexible and adaptable in any given situation. 
  • Work as a member of a team.
  • Work under time deadlines and pressures.
  • Work with minimal supervision.

Compensation Minimum Qualifications: $ 24.00 - 28.12 per hour, $1,000 sign on bonus 

Compensation Preferred Qualifications: $28.00 - $35.51, plus swing shift differential pay with a  $3000 sign on bonus 

Schedule: Wednesday - Sunday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Part-Time shifts available

Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES

Education, Training and Experience:

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for a Behavioral Health Specialist II position is through graduation from a four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field and four (4) years varied experience as a provider of direct mental health services or meeting other Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist qualifications.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

  • California driver’s license & current vehicle insurance/registration.
  • Reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five years old excluding all modes of two-wheeled transport inclusive of bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and Experience:

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in Social Work or related field and two (2) years varied experience as a provider of mental health services; valid registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

Valid registration with the Board of Behavioral Science

  • California driver’s license & current vehicle insurance/registration if driving; and, Reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five years old excluding all modes of two-wheeled transport inclusive of bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles
