We are seeking experienced Marine Electrical Engineers to join our team in Washington, DC or Suburban Baltimore. Upon award, you will:

  • Assist with and design electrical and electronic systems for ships.
  • Conduct design, analysis and studies for power generation and distribution, electric propulsion and power electronics, centralized machinery monitoring and control, lighting systems, and alarm systems.
  • Evaluate effect of new or modified electrical subsystems on overall system performance.
  • Review and adjudicate system design specifications, test requirements, Departures from Specification, Request for Waiver, and Engineering changes.
  • Work with a team of experienced engineers and people with other areas of expertise to plan, design, and oversee ship modifications.
  • Create briefs to explain and summarize technical issues, ship capabilities, change history, and other projects requested by the customer.
 
Position Requirements

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited institution.
  • 3 years’ Marine Electrical Engineer experience working in one of the following specialized fields: electric propulsion, machinery control, power generation or distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Navy Power Distribution Architecture
  • Familiarity with USN, USCG, ABS, and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
  • Experienced in MS Office software and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to interact and present technical information verbally and in writing (reports, specifications, drawings, etc.) to internal and external customers.
  • May require occasional travel.
  • U.S. Citizenship is a prerequisite.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Preferred Experience and Certifications:

  • Federal ship or boat building
  • Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs
  • Experience in design of electrical and electronic systems for shipbuilding,
  • U.S. Navy, DoD, or U.S. Coast Guard programs
  • Experience reviewing and adjudicating system design specifications, test requirements, Departures from Specifications, Request for Waiver, or Engineering Changes.

This position is contingent upon and subject to the award of the contract from the government. You will be hired on a contingency basis.
