POSITION SUMMARY: BASIC FUNCTION

Performs a lead cross functional role that focuses on capturing and understanding the business requirements at a functional level and identifying, writing, and testing the detailed requirements with test cases. Manages and coordinates with outsourced vendor to evaluate and test software programs to verify that programs function according to specifications and standards. Participates in all phases of software development to identify and resolve system malfunctions to meet quality standards. Under the guidance of the Sr. Director of IT Services, manages the activities and deliverables of tasks assigned to QA contractors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Business Analysis and Design
  • Works with Product/Business Owners, Project Management and Technical Staff to perform analyses related to the implementation of new or revised business processes and/or new or enhanced internally developed software or third-party vendor software
  • Determines appropriate sizing of requirements and breaks down larger scope into smaller pieces if needed
  • Gathers and documents requirements to support an Waterfall SDLC environment
  • Gathers and documents functional business requirements to be consumed by the business and technical teams for non custom development projects

  • Quality Assurance
  • Identifies, writes, and executes test cases from the Acceptance Criteria
  • Creates and manages detailed test plans to be used by QA Outsourced Vendor and other testers
  • Prepares or coordinates the development of testing plans related to software and business process implementations
  • Reviews testing outcomes to ensure performance of technology meets expectations
  • Uses software development tracking system for reporting and tracking software problems
  • Automated, manual and end-to-end testing of company software integrations with SAAS, on-prem applications and Web services
  • Monitors program performance after implementation to prevent recurrence of program operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation
  • Maintains departmental defect metrics

  • Automated Testing
  • Validate the test plans and automation code delivered by the QA Outsourced Vendor meet the technical specifications and coding standards
  • Identifies testing methodologies and testing strategies to use for new product releases and enhancements
  • Identifies, builds and/or directs others in the building of test automation cases aimed at improving product code quality and ensuring product functionality
  • Designs and directs implementation of API testing, database testing, user interface testing, and load testing while performing automation to include smoke, regression, functional and performance testing

  • Vendor Management
  • Maintains, reports on and ensures delivery to all QA Outsourced Vendor KPIs
  • Oversees QA Outsourced Vendor and technical staffs development and maintenance of test automation frameworks
  • Manages the work of QA Outsourced Vendor working on automated and functional testing, reviewing and reporting on the status to technical and business management
  • Communicates with third party testing automation developers about specifics of automated test cases as needed
  • Provide training and mentorship if necessary for QA Outsourced Vendor

  • Other duties as identified and assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of SDLC
  • Proficient in software testing methodologies
  • Understanding software development artifacts formats such as: Requirements, Test Plans, Use Cases, etc
  • Working understanding of Waterfall or Agile methodologies
  • Analytical, problem solving, diagnostic, excellent documentation, reading and verbal skills.
  • Must be very detail oriented, with the ability to translate program specifications into test plans and then execute the plan and document results
  • Able to be highly confidential
  • Proficient with JIRA/Confluence and O365 appplications
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Highly organized and prioritizes work effectively

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school education required
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in a Computer Science related discipline preferred
  • Some project coordination and/or project management experience ideal
  • 3+ years as an IT business analyst or IT project coordinator
  • 3+ years of experience QA testing both front-end and server-side functionality of complex n-tier systems
  • Software testing methodologies required
  • IIBA certification preferred
  • ISTQB Certification preferred
  • Experience with a major software and web testing tools such as Selenium/Jenkins/TestRail

  • Primarily sitting with some walking, standing, and bending
  • Able to hear and speak into a telephone
  • Close visual work on a computer terminal
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments
  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs

WORK CONDITIONS

  • This position is expected to be remote with occasional need to be on-site in a shared workspace

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Responsible to carry a cell phone and provide 24 x 7 support
  • Must possess a valid, current state-issued driver’s license
