Clinical Applications Coordinator (CAC) Assistant - IT Support

Job Summary

The primary function is to be trained into the essential job functions of a CAC. The purpose of this position is to assist with managing and developing clinical software applications and facilitate training of clinical staff for the entire range of application packages relating to the Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) and Electronic Health Record (EHR). First Tier IT support when needed. All duties and responsibilities will be performed in accordance with the Yellowhawk Mission and Vision statement.

Essential Job Functions

  1. EHR implementation, and training of clinical software throughout the facility.
  2. EHR setup and configuration related to the graphical user interface (GUI), files, parameters, menu and clinical references for user.
  3. EHR progress note template design, testing, management, and training to include embedded elements such as: patient data objects, flowsheets, health summaries, physician orders, etc. as required or requested by provider/program.
  4. Manage text integration utility (TIU) business rules for appropriate progress note security.
  5. Work closely with clinical/program staff for custom EHR quick order development, testing, maintenance and training.
  6. Timely EHR software troubleshooting on-demand.
  7. Tracking and reporting all EHR issues in local file and referring those requiring a higher level of technical support to the appropriate IT staff and/or outside agency support desk.
  8. Monitoring the release of RPMS-EHR software patches and performing pre- and post-installation tasks.
  9. Training staff on changes associated with patch installations.
  10. Clinical reminders setup, update, maintenance, troubleshooting, programming code and training using current clinical guidelines. (ex: cancer screenings, immunizations, diabetes care, elder health)
  11. Assemble and monitor input and feedback from staff and programs who utilize EHR to identify areas of improvement.
  12. Coordinate with IS Department to collaborate new technology related to EHR, patient/provider processes, and program areas.
  13. Responds to requests for studies, surveys, questionnaires, etc. from staff, Area Office, or external health care organizations and is responsible for the collection of data from appropriate sources: reviews and validates data collected and prepares formal reports.
  14. Training and technical support for various data mining, trending and report development.
  1. Knowledge of MS desktop Windows 10
  2. Support desktops, hardware, telecom, printers, scanners or handheld devices or it may be with software programs.
  3. Utilize remote management support tools
  4. Track all instances of support by creating IT tickets using ticket-tracking software.
  5. 1st tier support on tickets
  6. Excellent customer service skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  8. Ability to juggle multiple IT related projects simultaneously and manage time efficiently.
  9. Exhibits active listening techniques, and is open to feedback and continual improvement
  10. Support audio and video equipment.
  11. Professional in dress, speech, and manners.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Associates degree in Computer Science or related field with a minimum 2 years of successful working experience IT support and at least (1) year experience in a health care setting.

OR

Current national certification from AAMA, CCMA or NCCT as a certified medical assistant with minimum 3 years’ experience in health medical field.

  1. Completion of Basic and Advanced CAC training for RPMS-EHR within the first year of employment.
  2. Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain within 90 days.
  3. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  5. Demonstrated excellent customer service experience in a fast-paced help desk or customer contact environment.
  6. Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  7. Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain insurance requirements to operate General Services Administration vehicles.
  8. Must submit to and pass a reference and criminal background check.
  9. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  10. Must submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or allied health profession.
  2. Knowledge of common information technologies and systems preferred.
  3. Experience working in a Tribal Healthcare setting preferred.
