Description

EHS Technologies Corporation currently has a need for a Technician – Electromechanical Engineer (Part-time) at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division (NSWC-IHD), Maryland.

Description:

Work is located at Naval Surface Warfare Center – Indian Head.  Situational telework may be authorized.  Most of the job will require on-site presence at NSWC-IHD.

Requires a strong background in electronics design, circuit design, assembly and repair of printed wiring assemblies, repair of single, double and multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs), soldering expertise, electronics packaging and heat management, as well as mechanical fabrication including machine shop certification to operate metal fabrication machines and hand tools used for prototyping electronics equipment. This position is part time with varying hours per week depending on need.

Provide engineering and technician support in the areas of testing energetic materials and items in the following areas: 

Ordnance and Energetic Systems Engineering

Review and provide input as it relates to processing operations and Standard Operation Procedures.

Support the design and development of prototype ordnance components for energetic systems.

Support the development of prototypes, engineering development models, proof of concept. demonstrations as well as workflow management and metrics (IAW CDRL A002) Scientific and Technical Reports.

Support the design and development of prototype ordnance components for Air Weapons energetic systems.

Support the development of prototypes, engineering development models, and proof of concept demonstrations for Air Weapons applications, components, and systems as well as workflow management and metrics.

Interface with NSWC-IHD’s BQM 4 Channel Capacitive Discharge Firing System (CDFS) Team to determine Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design requirements in support of BQM 4 Channel Capacitive Firing System (CDFS).

Using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) workstations at NSWC-IHD, conduct CAD design and layout of complex multi-layer mixed-mode PCBs.

Troubleshoot prototype CDFS.

Run Acceptance Test Procedure to measure and validate functionality.

Remove potting compound to get access to circuit board components for measurements and replacement.

Test and troubleshoot complex multi-layer prototype board.

Implement any changes found during test and troubleshooting, and update CAD files to next revision.

Technical Documentation

Prepare technical documentation to support NSWC IHD efforts. This documentation shall include, but is not limited to, systems and component specifications, technical manuals, user guides, drawings, and technical bulletins.

Provide CAD files (Altium Project File and associated Gerber Files) for interim and final PCB designs for prototype CDFS digital meter.

Provide Solidworks drawings for prototype CDFS digital meter and cable.

Provide Scientific and Technical reports on any measurements and findings during troubleshooting

Specific Requirements Include:

Experience in design and fabrication of complex electronic equipment involving multiple engineering disciplines (electronics/mechanical). Knowledge needed to complete development from rudimentary designs and transition the products to production.

Strong background in linear and digital design applications i.e.: micro-computers, computer integrated manufacturing technology, fiber optic technology, robotics, surface mount technology, multi-layer PWB/PWA technology.

Firm knowledge of design methods, production techniques, and interfacing techniques of advanced complex missile/fire control simulation systems.

Extensive experience in packaging of electronic assemblies and sub-assemblies for weapon simulators. Support equipment. Test and certification equipment. Underwater mine neutralization systems.

Experience in operation of wave soldering and hot air convection oven in the assembly of electronic printed wiring boards.

Certified operator with extensive experience using metal fabricating machines and hand tools that are used in the prototyping electronics equipment.

Single, double and multilayer repair of printed circuit boards.

Assembly and repair of printed wiring assemblies.

Certification in J-Standard 001 soldering specification.

Extensive experience using computer aided tools to edit digital. Manufacturing files that are used to manufacture printed wiring boards.

Experience in the design of heat management plates that provide cooling of components on printed wiring assemblies.

Experience in the printed circuit manufacturing techniques using computer aided manufacturing tools.

Received training and have experience in surface mount assembly techniques on printed wiring assemblies.
