POSITION SUMMARY: BASIC FUNCTION

Develops and helps enforce controls policy and procedure for the Data Center Operations division. Provides design and control sequence programming for facilities controls and monitoring. Modifies control systems using control system software. Performs hardware and software troubleshooting and repairs to support Critical Facilities Operations. Provides controls engineering support to Critical Facilities Operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works to normalize and standardize existing controls system operation in keeping with NTT Global Data Centers Americas goals and strategies.
  • Works directly with construction to guide development of design concepts, and Owners Project Requirements for building management systems.
  • Works directly with IT to support customer telemetry projects.
  • Reviews, improves, and approves control drawings, wiring diagrams, and submittals for multiple different control systems air systems, chilled water systems, water treatment systems, freeze protection, electrical systems, office area space conditioning, and others
  • Develops specifications, contract language and contractor interface management for facility control systems.
  • Provides oversight and NTT Global Data Centers Americas direction to contractors and vendors.
  • Programs control system hardware to implement SOOs.
  • Modifies control system points, trends, alarms, logic and graphics for existing buildings to provide continuous improvement and standardization.
  • Participates in/directs startup testing and commissioning of infrastructure systems.
  • Develops and facilitates approval of hardware and programming design modifications to improve energy efficiency and/or reliability of existing infrastructure systems.
  • Coordinates outsourced engineering work, and both insourced and outsourced installation of control hardware, control wiring, sensors, displays and other mechanical system components.
  • Preparation of reports, graphs and presentations.
  • Generates documents of a highly confidential and critical nature.
  • Collects and prepares information for use in discussions/meetings of staff and outside individuals.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient in word processing, BAS system control software, network architecture, Single Line Drawings, P&ID drawings, and schematic control drawings.
  • Proficiency with Niagara, Unity and iFix.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage complex projects.
  • Ability to work efficiently and productively in a multi-tasking environment independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems using sound judgment to determine solutions and plan and accomplish NTT Global Data Centers Americas goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with all levels within the company, including executive management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Requires an Associates Degree in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in control system implementation and programming, strong preference related to industrial control and monitoring.

  • Able to hear and speak into a telephone
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments
  • Requires ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds

 

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Office environment with extensive daily usage of a computer; field work in electrical and mechanical infrastructure rooms, data floor spaces, roof mounted equipment.
  • Standard office environment with walking in Data Center environment with varying temperatures and loud noises.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Up to 25% travel possible to other Data Center locations.
  • Some visits to customer premises as needed.
  • Some telecommuting
  • Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.
