Description

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Facilities, the Set-up Services Associate will set-up and break-down furniture and equipment in support of numerous events and museum operations. You will clean and maintain furniture and equipment to the Museum’s high standards.

You Will:

  • Properly and efficiently perform set-up services duties according to the Museum’s training program.
  • Assist with inspecting and evaluating the condition of events related equipment, tables, and chairs.
  • Ensure that furniture and equipment is cleaned and properly maintained.
  • Undertake comprehensive and ongoing training for the set-up services team.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner in conformance with the Museum’s safety programs.
  • Assist with set-up and break-down of tables, chairs, and linens for numerous meetings, programs, events, and other activities.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships as well as a positive and respectful attitude with peers, subordinates, supervisors, administrators, and visitors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned including supporting the custodial, maintenance, and grounds teams.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent certificate of completion.
  • 1+ years of experience in set-up services and or custodial trade, or a combination of education and experience that would provide the required equivalent qualifications.
  • Understanding of safety precautions and procedures, especially with lifting and moving heavy furniture and equipment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Safe work practices.
  • Ability to communicate in English is preferred.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Flexibility to work some overtime, weekends, and holidays as assigned to meet varying event and operating schedules.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Work under adverse situations and conditions (e.g., dirty, noisy, etc).
  • Working on ladders, lifts, and heights.
  • Repeatedly lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop/squat for extended periods of time.

 

Other Requirements:

  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required, including any booster vaccinations as applicable.

The expected base hourly wage for this role is $18.00. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
