Human Resource Generalist

Position Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist position provides Human Resources support for a designated region. This position will work closely with local leaders and staff in assigned region to ensure HR processes are running effectively and efficiently.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assists with creating or updating job descriptions for new or updated positions.
  • Assists in interview process for positions when requested by regional leadership.
  • This position will regularly be involved in the interview process for leadership positions within the assigned region.
  • Schedules and conducts new hire orientation for all new hires in assigned region.
  • Receives and manages employee grievance and termination appeal process to ensure grievances/appeals are handled timely and according to policy.
  • Investigates global compliance complaints when assigned.
  • Assists managers with progressive disciplinary process by discussing issues, reviewing documentation, and providing guidance on recommended next steps.
  • Works with employees to answer questions and resolve concerns regarding policies, disciplinary actions or other general issues within programs.
  • Sets up and conducts exit interviews when notified that staff have resigned.
  • Works with HR Specialist on gathering information for unemployment claims related to assigned region.
  • Assists with training when requested by regional and HR leadership.
  • Schedules and conducts environmental scans on a regular basis with programs in region.
  • Schedules and conducts immediate environmental scans when concerns arise in a program.
  • Schedules and conducts regular audit file reviews in programs to ensure proper documentation is being kept or not kept in program audit files.
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field from an accredited university or college.
  • Four years’ experience in Human Resources to include experience handling employee relations issues.
  • PHR/SHRM-CP/SPHR/SHRM-SCP strongly preferred.
  • Experience with credentialing requirements for direct service positions preferred.
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.
  • Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including clarity and articulation of thoughts, appropriate grammar, style, form and punctuation.
  • General knowledge of employment law and legal hiring practices.
  • Ability to prioritize, coordinate and organize projects with attention detail and accuracy oriented.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and take the initiative to solve them.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Possession of state-appropriate, unrestricted driver’s license and current and valid auto insurance.
