Job Title: Accounting Clerk [Payroll] /Revenue Auditor Department: Administrative

Reports to: General Manager Pay Range: $45k-$52k

Summary of Functions:

Accurately issue pay to employees by calculating earnings, deductions and benefit processing activities.

Maintain and prepares files as necessary for tax filing and quarterly internal and external audits. Complete payments and control expenses by receiving payments, plus processing, verifying and reconciling invoices. Review and report audit findings.

Accountability:

The accounting clerk/revenue auditor reports to General Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processing bi-monthly payroll using ADP Workforce Now
  • Calculate and post payroll deductions
  • Process new employees, terminations, transfers and promotions
  • Investigate and correct payroll discrepancies and errors
  • Update payroll records by recording changes including insurance changes, salary increases and other changes
  • Processing requests for payroll advances
  • Prepare and print payroll reports of earnings, hours worked, taxes and insurance, leave
  • Prepare and filing tax reports
  • Gathering payroll data for inclusion in financial statements
  • Calculating jury duty pay and processing garnishments and levies
  • Calculates deductions for group health, life and disability insurance premiums and other benefits and communicate to employees
  • Communicates with insurance carriers and other benefit program vendors
  • Work with accounting department to resolve any errors or discrepancies
  • Administers 401(k) plan contributions and disbursements, along with advancing and growing the plan, perform annual 5500 completion
  • Communicate with vendors, IRS, managers and boards regarding all aspects of account/payroll topics
  • Receives and verifies expense reports; reconciles expense and other financial reports with account balances and other office records.
  • Generate payment to vendors on a routine schedule and match the check with backup.
  • Develop and maintain a filing system for financial information, records and documents to ensure easily available information.
  • Assemble, review and verify documentation for check requests.
  • Prepare and perform weekly AP check runs.
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions.
  • Maintains and prepares files as necessary for tax filing
  • Maintains and prepares files as necessary for quarterly internal and external audits
  • Assist the General Manager in the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems.
  • Support financial reporting requirements for month-end, quarter-end and year-end for actuals vs. budget spending.
  • Participates in the coordination and management of the annual ERC budget process.
  • Perform monthly audits on casino documents
  • Produce accurate and timely reports submitting to Tribal Gaming Agents
  • Work closely with Tribal Gaming Agents, external auditors and NIGC to resolve any issues/errors
  • Ensure compliance with all federal regulations and guidelines
  • Maintains confidentially of all proprietary and/ or confidential information.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires 2 years minimum of payroll experience

*Associates degree or equivalent experience in payroll training desired

*Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now is a plus

  • Minimum 1-2 years accounts payable experience preferred
  • Auditing and compliance experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid Washington state driver’s license and insurance
  • Required use of standard office equipment, including computer, phone, fax, 10 key calculator, scanner and photocopier
  • Proficient in Windows including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of general business administration including personnel practices and employment laws, general accounting practices (GAAP)
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages and ratios to practical solutions
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to pass pre-employment UA and background check.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with department managers and employees in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with management and outside contacts.
  • Familiar with Tribal, State, Federal and NIGC regulations

Certificates, Licenses, Regulations:

  • Valid Washington state driver’s license
  • Gaming license issued by Lower Elwha Gaming Commission

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to tobacco smoke, moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The worker is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Travel Requirement:

Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required. Typical travel time is generally less than a week.
