This internship is with Monkeypaw Productions in Hollywood, CA, and is part of the Academy
Gold Program, an 8-week internship enhancement program that incorporates learning
opportunities including an intensive two-day orientation, weekly panels, exclusive networking
events, workshops, screenings, and mentorship opportunities with Academy members. To learn

Founded by Jordan Peele, Monkeypaw Productions cultivates artistic, thought-provoking
projects across film, television and digital platforms. Our company is committed to
groundbreaking storytelling, visionary world-building and the unpacking of contemporary social
issues. Monkeypaw Productions champions highly specific perspectives and artistic
collaborations with unique and traditionally underrepresented voices. Our work challenges the
conventional architecture of genre storytelling from horror to science fiction to social satire, while
balancing avant garde visual language with undeniably contagious fun.

We are looking for an undergraduate or graduate intern who will be responsible for assisting the
Monkeypaw team with various day-to-day tasks across the following departments:
Development, Social Impact, and Operations.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for an undergraduate or graduate intern interested in all areas of film and
television production with a special passion for the horror and/or science fiction genres. We are
a relatively small company with a large number of active projects. This allows for a broad range
of exposure to all aspects of a production company and a wide variety of day-to-day
responsibilities. This may include reading scripts, writing coverage, research, assisting with
social media and general office duties. Our Summer 2022 internship will very likely take place
in-person, and so candidates who are located (or intend to be located) in the Los Angeles area
are preferred.

Duties:

  • Script coverage
  • Transcription and logging dailies
  • Online research
  • Assist in updating various director / writer / talent grids
  • Taking notes during meetings
  • Day-to-day office tasks that contribute to general business operations
  • Assist with answering phones, rolling calls for Executives
  • Answering the door, welcoming visitors and receiving deliveries
  • Running misc errands
  • Assist in monitoring news and social media for relevant stories and trends
  • Assist with social impact research and presentations
  • Other special projects as assigned by individual departments

 

 

 
Position Requirements

 

  • Cover letter must include a description of your interest in genre, and a piece of film or TV you recently viewed, really enjoyed and why
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university or college with a GPA of 3.0 or above, graduating in 2022 or 2023
  • Ideal candidate is based in the Los Angeles area for the duration of the internship (June through August)
  • Ideal candidate to have a valid U.S. driver's license
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Previous professional internship/work experience
  • Previous experience writing script coverage
  • Proficiency in Google docs and worksheets
  • Previous experience answering company phones
  • Quick and eager learner with a “can-do” attitude
  • Hardworking, proactive and passionate individual
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to self-manage time and progress, and communicate status effectively
