This internship is with Xperi and is part of the Gold Rising Program, an 8-week internship enhancement program that incorporates learning opportunities including an intensive two-day orientation, weekly panels, exclusive networking events, workshops, screenings, and mentorship opportunities with Academy members. Xperi is looking for a creative and determined intern to provide real-world experience of executing premium technology and business solutions to the cinema industry, including its customers and consumers. As a member of the DTS Cinema team, the Cinema intern will be responsible for collaborating with teammates across functions to promote events and movie titles with DTS:X audio technology, DTS programs for cinema and home and DTS:X technology via social and web-based digital media.

 

Through the Xperi cinema internship experience, intern will learn more about the following:

  • How the cinema business at Xperi works

  • About the DTS brand and DTS:X immersive audio solutions

  • How DTS works with our partners to create amazing technology experiences

  • How to contribute to a broader business team by creating creative and operational processes and procedures which help improve team performance and customer engagement.

 

 
Position Requirements

Focus project

The best internships have focus projects that the intern can own and that have a clear deliverable at the end. This gives the organization tangible value that carries on after the internship is over and gives the Intern a great story to share with future employers that shows the impact he/she made at the company. The focus project for this internship will be the development and execution of a creative sound-based podcast to support the DTS Cinema program.

 

Reporting relationships/key contacts

  • Intern will report directly to VP of Cinema, Loren Nielsen. Loren is responsible for enabling the intern’s integration into the Xperi cinema team and into Xperi overall and will assign tasks/priorities and manage intern’s work directly.

  • Christy Willingham, Director Integrated Marketing, will be the intern’s second mentor and will provide direction regarding the integration of intern’s project into the Xperi marketing plan.

  • Brian Slack, Senior Manager Cinema and Pro Audio Solutions will be the intern’s third mentor and will be available for occasional project assistance for the intern’s audio-based product.

 

Responsibilities (will include and not be limited to):

  • Work remotely (or in person if Covid-19 remote restrictions are lifted) for approximately 30-hour week according to TBD schedule

  • Work with Loren to conceive, develop, and deliver on the assigned tasks/priorities and deliverables of the Focus Project with presentation to the Cinema and Marketing teams

  • Work with cinema, audio and marketing teams to execute cinema social media campaign featuring the Focus podcast.

  • Collaborate with DTS Cinema and Marketing to develop and support events promoting the use of DTS:X. Events may be virtual or possibly IRL.

  • Learn about and be exposed in a professional environment to the business process of immersive sound as practiced in studios for their motion picture audio tracks and in movie theatres as part of their theatrical sound systems.
