Youth-Young Adult Advocate

This is a Grant Funded Position

OVERVIEW: Under the general supervision of the Healthy Transitions Project Director the Healthy Transitions Advocate is responsible for providing direct services and to eligible youth and young adult’s ages 16 through 25 years old. This positions works directly with all of the all internal Tribal Programs as well as external agencies to coordinate services to increase and develop client’s self- sufficiency. The HT Advocate will coordinate services to clients ensuring services remain in accordance with all policies and procedures and any regulations that govern them.  The HT Advocate is also responsible for updating client data providing regular reports as required by Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and the various funding agencies.

LOCATION: Social Service Building, LEKT Campus and Clallam County
SUPERVISED BY: Healthy Transitions Project Director

WORK SCHEDULE: Mon-Fri hours may vary
SALARY LEVEL: $18.00 -  $21.00 (Annual $37,440 to $43,680.00)

POSITION STATUS: Full-time

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:           

  • Participate in all administrative team meetings, discussions, implement the day-to-day activities;
  • Two years of experience in case managing in social work;
  • Provide support to youth/young adults involved in Healthy Transitions Program and wraparound services through assistance in supporting authentic youth/young adult voice in individual treatment, service delivery, system design, and governance throughout Healthy Transitions;
  • Support youth/young adults in developing and coordinating youth/young adults’ leadership training opportunities, including conferences;
  • Partnering with Youth and Young Adults:
  • Develop youth support/focus groups
  • Develop/Coordinate culturally competent polices designed to amplify youth/young adults’ voices within Healthy Transitions and partner organization
  • Identify barriers to effective youth/young adults’ voices and solutions
  • Coordinate with youth/young adults to develop materials, services and trainings that empower youth/young adults to understand systems, their experiences within systems, and opportunities to help transform systems to better serve youth/young adults with mental health, substance abuse, co-occurring challenges;
  • Plan, advocate for, and manage budgeted youth/young adult involvement resources;
  • Attend community events for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information to assist the planning process
  • Assist, conduct and coordinate youth/young adult focus groups, surveys, and other means of data collection for the purpose of assessing needs, improving communication;
  • Assist in recruiting and supporting diverse youth/young adults voice/participation representing the cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the population focus of Healthy Transitions;
  • Maintain confidentiality of youth and young adults;
  • Maintain ongoing supportive relationships with youth/young adults providing peer counselling services, attending community events, and promote youth/young adult involvement;
  • Other duties as assigned.
     

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY POSITION:

  • High school diploma or GED Required;
  • Experience collaborating with diverse agencies and/or fostering partnerships
  • Knowledge of Lower Elwha Community/Families, along with Clallam County;
  • Pass a criminal background check;
  • Must have UA testing done prior to employment;
  • Must be able to comply with the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe policies and procedures, including the Drug Free Workplace;
  • Must be able to travel and work flexible schedule as needed;
  • Must be able to operate Microsoft Office Programs;
  • Compliance of HIPPA, Federal and State Laws

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed in an office setting and in the field
  • 40 hour work week

As with all positions of the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe this position is Indian Preference in hiring.
