LSA is seeking a senior level biologist to support projects and expand biological services in the southern Central Valley/Fresno area. This is a senior level position. The candidate should have experience managing projects, including conducting meetings with clients and regulatory agencies, coordinating reviews with technical staff, maintaining schedules, conducting quality control, managing budgets, preparing scopes and budgets or standalone proposals, and managing subconsultants. The qualified candidate will be expected to develop new work, as well as manage existing work, build and maintain client relationships, and provide oversight of other biological staff.

The salary range for this position is $71,000 to $154,000 per year. The compensation offer will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.

 
Position Requirements

A bachelor’s degree or higher in natural or physical sciences is required. Candidates should have at least 7 years of experience, with a strong and proven foundation in Central Valley region biological resources. Specific areas of expertise should include:

  • Field surveys and impact assessment
  • Knowledge of local wildlife species, plant communities, and special-status species
  • Aquatic resources delineation and regulatory permitting (e.g., Section 404, 401, and 1602)
  • State and federal endangered species act permitting (e.g., ESA Section 7 Consultation, Section 2081 Incidental Take Permit)
  • Preparation of mitigation plans, biological reports, and biological resources sections for CEQA and NEPA documents, and
  • Preparation of Caltrans-format biological reports.

 

Strong emphasis will be placed on previous technical experience and quality of work, financial project management, and ability to develop business and build client relationships. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential. Salary is commensurate with experience.

 
Compensation The salary range for this position is $71,000 to $154,000 per year. The compensation offer will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
